Enclosure Setup for the Amazon Basin Emerald Boa
Carefully consider the enclosure needs of emerald tree boas before buying the snake.
As these snakes are tree-dwelling, it’s important that the enclosure has height to it.
Though they require height, these snakes may crawl on the ground at night, so you should also consider the width of the enclosure.
- Ideally, the enclosure should have three solid sides and one side that allows for viewing. Having solid sides will give your snake a sense of security. It’s also important that the enclosure provides ventilation.

First, I am a real person and this is a review of my very real experience with serpentsanctuaryz. I was very apprehensive about ordering my Amazon tree boa online and checked out several different companies online before choosing serpentsanctuaryz, as they had the highest rating of those I looked into. I am very glad I did NOT see negative reviews before I ordered as my experience couldn’t have been better! As others have stated in their reviews, the company had to confirm my credit card and shipping address with a copy of my utility bill. This was because of my recent move and the address on my credit card & the shipping address didn’t match. While the entire process took several email exchanges and caused them to delay shipment by 1 day, I thoroughly appreciate that they wanted to ensure that the amazon was in fact being shipped to the proper address where someone would be there to recieve him. I found them to be excellent for communication via email. Since they are an online business, I never attempted to contact them any other way. They answered my emails within hours. The amazon was shipped the next day and FedEx tracking was excellent and being able to track the last two hours of the delivery live on the FedEx app allowed me to be walking out my door to meet the FedEx driver as the truck was pulling onto my street. My beautiful Amazon boy arrived very carefully and snugly packed in a muslin bag, well secured and placed into a Styrofoam lined cardboard box. As soon as I released him into his new enclosure, he climbed to a basking spot to warm up. The next morning I attempted handling him. I have had my Amazon for over a week now and he is adjusting to his new home beautifully. I’m so sorry to those who’ve had poor experiences, as mine was anything but. I am a person that suffers from severe anxiety disorder and the constant email delivery updates & live tracking via the FedEx app made the whole experience easier for me. I would definitely buy from serpentsanctuaryz again and would recommend them to a friend.
